The Cult Film Club is a podcast that I co-host with my best friends Paxton Holley and Jaime Hood (also my lovely wife) all about the movies that we love to death. We started the show in the winter of 2012 and have been recording episodes for over a decade now.
We recorded this episode back in October of 2023. Neon Maniacs is one of those films that barely made an impression on me back in the day, but upon revisiting I’ve fallen for, very hard. I ended up revisiting this film for the first time in 20 years last year when I was asked by the fine folks at Terror Vision records to create a set of trading cards based on the film to help support the release of the movie’s score on vinyl for the first time ever. Over a short period of time I ended up watching the movie three or four times and each time I rewatched it I found more and more to love. I did my best to dig up every possible nugget of backstory on the making of the film for the “Fun Facts” cardback of the cards I was designing and in doing so became one of the few folks on the internet who have positively showcased this film. Because of that I was asked by the super rad Stephen Scarlata to sit for an interview about the film for his comprehensive making of podcast series on the film called In the Shadows of the Neon Maniacs. Participating in that was one of my proudest podcasting moments in recent memory.
